Hard to believe that I haven’t posted since November, 2023. Things are going well here. First up health wise, just doing check ups with the oncologist every three months. Alternating with bloodwork, mammograms and mri. All is well at this point. A few side effects of the chemo/keytruda, but nothing we can’t deal with so far.
Now on to quilting. I have been doing a few things. First up is the Malted Mystery I am truly enjoying this quilt along. Cutting everything up front and having it all labeled is such a timesaver as piecing begins. We only have one month left of clues to finish this top. I can hardly wait to get it together and then find a backing.
Next up I decided I needed to do something while I waited between monthly clues for the Malted Mystery, so I pulled out my Buttercup & Slate – layer cake by Coyer Yoder @Coriander Quilts. Then made HSTs. Once they were all sewn and trimmed I had to decide what to do with them. I put a few choices together and let hubby decide what he liked best.
Here was his choice. Now I have a top done, just waiting for the backing to be delivered.
As I was browsing IG (really wasting time), I stumbled upon the Red swap and HSTs – Red Rain Boots Handmade
You sign up and pick how many you want to swap. Each swap is for 56 red 5″ squares. You send 56 off and you will receive 4 of your fabric along with 13 other fabrics (4 5″ squares of each). Since I signed up for 3 swaps, I received a total of 168 5″ squares.
I’ve been wanting to make a red and white quilt and what a great way top get a variety of fabrics. Just need to get my whites ready!
These are the three red fabrics I chose.
These are the fabrics I received. I think I only had 1 repeat in the bunch. Now I just need to get some white 5″ ready to go.
2024 Bee Blocks
I wanted to be sure that I kept quilting this year. Not sure if I would be feeling like doing lots of quilts. I jumped back into the Bee Block swap that I had done in previous years. Here are the first two blocks for 2024.
January’s block headed off to New Zealand!! Happy to say it arrived.
February’s block
Villa Rosa
There is a blog hop coming. I’ll be doing a quilt called Twinkle using some of my charm packs that have been wanting to come out to play. There will be chances to win some great prizes too. Stop back here on March 18.
It seems like I have been doing a lot, but it has been over quite a bit of time. I am happy to say that I am heading off to QuiltCon in Raleigh this week. I’ll only be there Thursday morning, but glad to go.
Promise the next post will not be so long and jammed with many projects.
I’m so glad that your health is doing so well. And look at you go – you have a lot of really fun quilting projects on the go. Your Malted Mystery looks great, congratulations on a pieced top, what a smart way to get a lot of lovely red prints for a red and white quilt, and your bee blocks look fantastic! 🙂
Fabulous news on the health front and you do have a lot of projects going! I love your Malted Mystery, your HST and your husbands choice for layout and all those reds!!! You will have fun making that red and white quilt. Then, the bee blocks are fun too! Can’t wait to see your Villa Rosa! I am waiting for my fabric….sigh…almost here last week and then some delay at USPS!
Oh, and have a blast at Quilt Con. Sorry I won’t be there this year!
I’m glad to hear everything is going well, health wise, Jan! And it must be because your quilts are rolling off the production line! Have fun at QC!!! I hope to go one of these times…
Good to hear that your health report is good. I’m glad you are taking some time to go to QuiltCon, too! Your quilts are looking great! Hubs has a good design sense, too! Enjoy QuiltCon!
So glad you are doing well health wise and that your sew-jo is in full flow! Creativity is such a key part of well-being 🙂
Hello! Love the layout you chose for the Buttermilk & Slate fabric….did you have a pattern or did you choose a certain size to make the HST and went from there?! thx.
