The decision was made. I’m going to do my first mystery quilt along. I always follow along with Cheryl’s annual quilt alongs, but haven’t taken the leap. Until now. This one is Malted Mystery QAL by Cheryl Brickey. It started in July of this year, but it isn’t too late for you to join in too.
Here is my progress so far.
July – Fabric Selection
August – Cutting Instructions
This was a lot of cutting. But it sure made it easier for the following months.
September – HSTs and some blocks
There were a lot of blocks and a lot more trimming. I was glad to see that there was trimming room on all the pieces.
October – Flower Star and Flying Geese
Flying Geese have always given me fear. They would turn out wobbly and uneven, but these worked out great with room to trim them all perfectly (I hope).
November – HSTs and more blocks
Another block and it came together nicely with all the pieces already cut.
I am keeping up well so far, let’s see how the next few months go.

Cute fabrics and colors, Jan!!!
I love your fabric choices and I love Cheryl’s patterns. I have done one or 2 of her QALs and they are fabulous. It will be fun to watch as this progresses!
What a fun one – of course I love the color you chose!!
She does great QALs, so you chose a good one! Love your colors, and your blocks are looking good!
