Christmas Queen is Done

This Fat Quarter bundle from Moda, by Me & My Sisters has been sitting for awhile.  It was time for Merry & Bright to come out of hiding.

UnBoxed MMS Merry & Bright FQs

A queen quilt for our spare bedroom was the plan.  Decided on The Wall, which is a free pattern  by Happy Quilting.

Simple cutting and then I had to move the dining room table and chairs to have a place to lay out and come up with a plan.

It is going together quickly.

Top is done and ready to be quilted.

No need to guess it is straight line quilting.  Lots of arm action to get this queen through the throat space.  Thank goodness for my Janome 9400 and her throat space.

This was my first experience with buying binding online.  I was excited and ready to get the binding attached.  Wait, I thought I bought binding ready to go.  It was only strips to put together for binding.  Oh well, it was still close to ready.  Put the binding together and had it attached in no time.

She is labeled and ready for her first wash.

It took five washed with Color Catchers.   I put two in each wash cycle.  Finally after five washes they were almost white.  Don’t know who or when I ready about color catchers, but they were definitely needed for this quilt.

Oh yes, she is a Queen. But no royal tantrums will be tolerated and she must go through the wash cycle till all her attitude is washed out. Terrific finish, Jan. Your house is more than ready for company. I fear they may never leave :-p

You found the perfect pattern for the wonderful bundle of fabric—I love everything about this quilt. You better make sure your guests don’t leave with this quilt. Kudos to you for machine quilting it yourself. I had to chuckle if you thinking the binding was already cut and sewn together, Problem Sista.

What a great binding for the quilt. I would have been surprised that it wasn’t completely ready, too. Color catchers are amazing and so worth having on hand. The quilt looks wonderful finished and on the bed!

What a great quilt for the spare room. I would have been bummed too by the binding not even being joined. It surely was perfect and not having to cut it is still a bonus. Great job!

So cute, Jan!!! And so ahead of time-six months ahead of time! So the binding was just pre-cut strips? It sure is a great binding choice!

That is such a pretty Christmas quilt. You have me thinking I need to do my Christmas in July quilt that I planned 3 years ago.
