Who decides two weeks before Christmas to make a quilt for a gift. No worries, this will be the last time I do and this is the last quilt for 2021.
My niece is coming for a visit this Christmas and I had wanted to make her a quilt that she could use. I made her a smaller quilt for her graduation, you can see it way back here in 2016.
I gave here choices in pattern and fabric. (To be sure I had everything and didn’t need to find fabric). Remember I bought this fabric for myself, but ended up using it here. So I bought another layer cake and backing. Of course, she picked the FQS Layer Cake Custard and Bohemian Blue by Lisa Audit. I’ve made two of the Layer Cake Custard quilts. This will be my second quilt using the Bohemian Blue. Just ordered my third (and fourth) layer cake of Bohemian Blue, to be sure I’ll have one for myself.
Had to wind some bobbins before I could start! Ran out of thread on the last bobbin and needed to reorder thread also, here I come Superior Thread. Changed the needle and ready to go.
All together and ready to quilt!
Another serpentine stitch.
Another Grunge wide backing in Pool.

This is a lovely quilt, I’m sure your niece was thrilled! Happy New Year and happy stitching!
Another pretty quilt! Your niece is going to be delighted! What a way to wrap up the year, Jan!
What a great quilt! I guess you will be making one more in this fabric, for you. How sweet for your niece that you whipped that up int he fabric you wanted. Love the pattern and the effort you made.
Congratulations on the lightning finish! It’s a great design. My now four-year-old Janome has a serpentine stitch that I need to try for quilting. Thanks for the reminder.
Awww, your friends and family certainly have great taste. I hope your niece loves the quilt and here’s hoping you get to make one for you to keep in 2022!
It looks fabulous!
