Hands to Help

My first three quilts for Hand 2 Help can be seen here.  These quilts went to Little Lambs of Utah

Have you ever had one of those days, I woke up about 7am and said I think I’ll make a quilt for by grand Niece’s high school graduation.  The catch here is that she was in town this weekend to celebrate her achievement.  I told her I’d stop by that evening to visit.  Ok, I can get a quilt done by then.

I pulled out 2 Tula Pink charm packs and 1 Moda white charm pack.  I cut the white in half and started piecing things together.    Here was the quilt that I was sort of using as a pattern.

This one used a jelly roll, but I wanted the quilt to be bigger, so thought charm packs would do the trick.

Once I had all the pieces together, I laid them out and thought not big enough.  So I found some other Tula Pink and cut more 5″ squares and more 2.5 x 5 white.  Laid it out again, still not working too oblong.  Let’s add some white strips between some rows.  That’s it, we are good to go.  Let’s make a sandwich.  It is now late afternoon.  Time to get quilting.  You guessed it, straight line quilting.

Once I started the quilting, about 3 line in, I didn’t really see my Grand Niece in this quilt.  So change of plans, I’ll give her cash.

Went and celebrated her achievement and she was thrilled with cash.  Now to finish this quilt and it will now become a Hands 2 Help Quilt.

It is a win win situation, cash to Preslie and quilt number 4 for Hand 2 Help.

It sounds like a very win-win situation. I’m glad you got to celebrate with your niece and I’m sure this quilt will be loved by its recipient, too.

A win-win it is! I was glad for the link to Little Lambs – I have 2 going there also. I love how you kept making it work, but also that you saw a need for a change of plan and went with it! Great job all around.

Nice, Jan, that you could assess the quilt situation and make good of it all. That’s a super fun quilt that will bless someone.
