My May OMG was to quilt this top for a wedding gift. The wedding date has not been set with this crazy time we are enduring.
This is the second time using this quilt pattern. Here is the first time I used it, Layer Cake Custard QAL with FQS.
Quilting was done in wavy lines to match the lines in the fabric. The fabric is a layer cake I picked up somewhere, sometime ago. I really like the colors together and think that the lime green is my favorite in the pack.
Feeling lazy, I ordered wide backing called Sew Hope from Backside Fabric.
The quilt is for my Brother-In-Law who lost his wife after a long illness. He ran into his kids kindergarten teacher the following year and they have been together since. Things happen and we are thrilled that he is onto another chapter, so thought this backing was were appropriate.
Terribly rainy weather here, so no shots outside.

I like how your second time with this pattern is celebrating your BIL’s second chance at happiness. Thanks for sharing the sweet story behind this lovely finish. : )
Great quilt and story and I love that backing.
Both versions of this quilt are great! The backing on this one is a favorite of mine! I used it on a quilt for my daughter! I like fabric with words!
The lime green is great as are the wavey quilting lines.
It is a beautiful quilt – and celebrating a wonderful thing!
This is a wonderful quilt. And, it looks amazing in both color ways. Congratulations to your BIL and his gal. It is wonderful to hear a happy story these days.
The backing is perfect and I don’t see it as lazy at all. Congratulations on getting it done and being ready; I hope they are able to schedule the wedding soon.
This is a beauty and such a great story. I do hope they settle on a date soon and are able to celebrate appropriately! Love the colors and quilting pattern, just so perfect. Thank you for linking up!
Congrats on finishing your OMG!
A beautiful quilt and a beautiful story to match. I have this pattern earmarked for a layer cake of Island Batiks.
Lovely piece and a generous gift.
Oh Jan, this is a pretty quilt. I love that lime green too, it adds the right pop to the quilt. The backing is spot on. Yay for having it done and ready to go. I hope the date can be set soon!
Love that backing, Jan! Nice job on the quilting, too. Weddings are so fragile right now.
Wonderful quilt! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and congrats on your finish!
Love the colors and the pattern. Such a cheerful quilt! Perfect backing for a wedding quilt.
What a sweet story and quilt for the happy couple!
