In making another Squiggles quilt, I had many small HSTs left over. This time in making the blocks, I sewed lines to get the small HSTs at the same time. I loved this plan and wished I had done it during this Squiggles Quilt Along.
Last time these make these little blocks weren’t sewn at the same time, but I did save the trimmed pieces and sent them along to another quilter for her use.
Here are the 582 HSTs in need of a press and trim.
After their trim they measure up at 1.5″ square.
Started by putting them into rows. After I had all the rows together, I played around with layouts.
I went with a simple diamond pattern and am very happy with how it turned out.
Here she is all finished, but waiting on her quilt to be completed.
The back is the same as the quilt back will be and I put in an invisible zipper as well.

Oh my goodness – I love the look of the pillow! I still have several of my teensy HSTs left from Squiggles. I pull them out now and again to make a pinnie, but I haven’t finished trimming them, much less making them into much else. So well done on your finish!
That is a bunch of teeny HSTs! Love the design you made with them, and the pillow looks great!
What a very striking pillow; great use for the bonus HSTs you created!
Cute pillow, Jan! I love the diamond layout. And an invisible zipper–impressive! Goes great with the matching quilt!
I love this! It is a great use of those HSTs although I don’t think I would ever save mine again. I did it once, and they hung around forever (may still be somewhere in the depths). I think the diamonds were really the perfect choice. I don’t like throwing them out, but don’t like using them instead. I think I will find a scrap buddy for them…make both she and me happy!
The triangle units made a very contemporary look pillow Nice.
Turned out great! Such tiny little pieces!
Love the color and the design! Isn’t it amazing how much 1.5″ squares shrink when sewn together??
