Christmas Quilt

It was time for a quick quilt and I had leftover FQ fabric from my October bee blocks.

I decided on  Cabin Fever by Amber of Gigi’s Thimble and Amanda at Jedi Craft Girl.  It is a five fat quarter friendly pattern.

We are cut and ready to go.  I found this video Corner Triangle Piecing by Amber Johnson, Gigi’s Thimble on how to do corners.  I have not clue how I had never seen this anywhere, but it was a game change for me.  You know that I am a line drawer, not one line but two lines so I can sew on each line.  This was a time saver for sure.

Once I had those pieces done I needed to decide do I do each block same print or mix them up for some scrappiness.

One fabric in each block was the winner.  Here is the top all together but in need of the final borders.

The borders are done and the first wave of quilting is completed.  I did straight line quilting from corner to corner.

I thought for a few minutes that this was great.  Maybe only do one direction on the quilting.  But that was just for a few seconds.  Went back and did from the other corner to corner.

Quilting done!  Binding done!  Washing done!  Used it last night on the couch, it is a keeper in my house.  It finished at 52 1/2″ x 66 1/2″.

Awesome quilting, Jan! I just cut that fabric line into fat quarter bundles last night while working at the quilt shop–it was the second time around, since we sold out of the original FQs. So, deja vu, on the fabric line!!! It’s super cute!
