It is time for a great baby quilt. My sister-in-law, who passed last fall, would have had her first grand child this fall. So it was time for a cute baby quilt. Baby Momma wanted Dr. Seusss, which meant I needed to get shopping on line, since none could be found locally.
Here was my pick, it’s Cat In The Hat. The fat quarter bundle came with a fabric panel. I had never used one before, so I put it aside, while I put the top together. This is my layout before I added the stripping.
We have a top together. It was very quick to put together.
Here is the back. I used the panel and added fabric to the sides, top and bottom. I was thrilled with how I got the top and bottom even and the sides even. It was by luck.
This is the final quilt. But wait there is more.
I took the leftover fabric and used an old pattern, Squiggles QAL Blocks. Now I have another quilt for Jack’s Basket
Just enough fabric to finish the back.
Now I need to figure out how to make a few tag blankets and toys with my Sister-In-Laws shirts.
I’m linking up with Meadow Mist and her Favorite Finish monthly link up.
Just a few more days until
Don’t miss it, there will be a great giveaway.
How neat that you are making a quilt for mom and baby, Jan. Great way to use up the left over fabric, too! Those quilts will bring much joy and comfort to the recipients. 🙂
Love the quilt! I really like your idea of making the scraps up right away as a comfort quilt for a child in nee d. Wonderful finishes!
So cute! I love Dr. Seuss!
