Hive Blocks for the Summer

It has been a hectic summer and I can’t believe I didn’t post the blocks from my Bees.  Here are blocks from this summer.

I was the queen in July for our Stash Bee Hive.  I chose Merri-Mint from Moda Bake Shop.  I’ve always want to try a red and white quilt, so this was the perfect chance.

Our August queen, Kerry, chose a  Scrappy Cross Roads from Bee in my Bonnet.  Most of my scraps are in storage awaiting our move, but I found a mini-charm pack that worked perfect.

Dawn was queen for September and her pick was Modern Trees.  I’ve had this pattern on my pinterest page for quite some time, so it was fun to do a few trees.

Our Homebees 2018 group had Lisa as our Queen for July and she picked Tic Tac Toe by Blossom Heart Quilts.  I always love a red, white and blue.

Susan was our August Queen and her block choice was Abacus by Blossom Heart Quilts.  We did this block a few months ago in Christmas fabrics.  Fabric choices make such a different block.

Carrie finished up of Swarm Hive with the Fizzy from Blossom Heart Quilts.  I always get scared when someone picks this block, CURVES.  I take it slow and always go back and watch curve videos on youtube.  Patience is needed with this block.

The third hive group I belong to is the IG Honeybees 2018.  Lorna was our queen for July and her pick was Star Plus from Blossom Heart Quilts.  This block looks so many different ways on the web site.  I always have a hard time trying to decide on fabrics.  Lorna has good choices, that were easy to work with.

Susan picked Checker by Blossom Heart Quilts for her August block.  Susan sent this black fabric to each of us when she sent our queen blocks.  So I’ve been waiting since January to see what she had planned.

Don’t you hate when you forget to take a picture of your blocks.  Amanda was our August Queen and chose Homebase by Blossom Heart Quilts.  It is a favorite of mine and I’ve picked it twice as my block.  So here is an older picture, but Amanda has great taste.  She picked the same fabric choices that I did both time.

It has been such fun working with new blocks each month and seeing other quilters visions for their blocks.  We can do the same block and use different fabrics and they are so different.

Unfortunately, I have to find angels to make my blocks for the remainder of the year, as I am going to have shoulder surgery next week.  These ladies are amazing.  Folks have already stepped up to fill the gap for these three groups.  Thanks to each of you and I hope to be back in our bees in January.

Jan, I’m rather amazed at how many bee hives you’ve been participating in! That’s a lot of blocks, people and mailing to keep track of. Great job keeping up. And nice that angels have stepped up for you. I’m praying for your surgery and recovery. Hang in there and dream of your future quilts.

How do you find all the hives? I didn’t realize you were in so many. Glad you found angels to help out, as I was thinking to ask you if I could help (still would, if you need). Hope your surgery goes well, and recovery is quick. Prayers going up!
