Sarah Craig at Confessions of a Fabric Addict does an annual quilts for charity. I signed up by accident and you can read that story here.
It has been a bit crazy around here. We sold our house, packing up to move temporarily to my sisters, looking for new house almost a 1,000 miles away. I didn’t want to miss out on sending some quilts to Quilty Hugs for Happy Chemo!
Once again, Emily of Em’s Scrap Bag will be collecting quilts to be donated to people undergoing chemotherapy. This has been a favorite charity for the Challenge participants since the second year, and a whole lot of love and comfort has gone to them in the form of quilts over the past six years. Quilty Hugs gives quilts to cancer patients through the Rack Pack, Primary Children’s Hospital, and various chemo labs. They are given to the patient for their own personal use. Emily accepts quilts of all sizes, from 48″ square to twin size (approximately 65″ x 88″).
Since I haven’t had time to make any new quilts, I went into my available quilts stash and came up with these three quilts.
Sailors Star which I blogged about here.
This is my second Homebase quilt done with blocks from one of my Quilt Bee groups and it’s details are here.
And the final quilt for Hands 2 Help in 2018 is detailed here.
If you have a chance and have a bit of spare time, go visit Sarah’s page and see what other charities participating in the 2018 Hands 2 Help.
I hope you find a suitable new home and get settled soon. It’s so generous of you to share 3 of your quilts for Hands to Help.
the challenges of moving and still keeping up with charity quilts! way to go
What a great gift – sharing your quilts with this charity. It is one of the great things about quilters. Someone or three will be very happy when they receive these beauties.
The quilts are lovely, Jan. I’m sure each one will be happiness to someone! I hope your transition to a new home goes smoothly, from finding the home to getting there! In the meantime, enjoy your time with your sister and keep us posted on progress!
Beautiful Quilts and what a beautiful way to “Hug” someone!
Wonderful contributions. It gave me a chuckle, how you thought you were signing up for a newsletter and in the process, joined the charity quilt drive! It’s a good thing. A great thing! I hope the move is going good. Best wishes.
Hi Jan,
There are some lucky recipients who will be receiving your quilts. They will feel all the love and care you stitched into them. I hope the sale/move, etc. is going well. I’ve been thinking of you! Happy Mother’s Day!
