My OMG for April is to finish the quilts for my granddaughters birthdays. Here are posts from last months goal to get quilt tops put together. March OMG
I had some “opportunities” for backings on both quilts. Didn’t buy enough yardage. I came up with the plan B backing, adding hearts.
Once I had the backing together quilt sandwiches were made and I started the quilting. Using wavy lines again! I should know better than to do work in the evening. My wavy quilt lines looked good, until I turned it over. I have a wavy crease across about 15 lines of quilting
My goal is to rip out these lines. Complete the quilting and then bind them up for an April finish of my OMG.

Oh! My heart did a little tumble when I saw the crease in the backing. Been there, done that. I didn’t find mine until after the quilt was finished, bound, and washed. So I left it – good thing it was in one of my own quilts! I’m sorry you have to do all that unpicking. In the end it will be worth the time and effort! Good luck on reaching your OMG goal!
Oh, no! Sometimes the struggle just never gives up on a particular project. They are beautiful and will be loved by them. Kuddos to you for wanting to rip it out, it is hard to do. It will be worth it. Good luck!
I hope that the unpicking and re-quilting goes quickly and smoothly.
So sorry about the unpicking. I hope you have a good show to watch (or quick video). In the end, you’ll feel better, but no fun having to undo! Both quilts are so cute; I love the names as part of the quilt!
Bummer! But great quilts – Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project.
That heart block you are adding to the backing is sew cute!!! As for that sneaky tuck, that’s happened to me before, too. Just have to live in a sort of hold-your-breath zone until it’s all picked out and restitched. But it is possible and you will get there. Best wishes.
How pretty! The girls are going to LOVE their quilts. I hate that when I flip the quilt over and find a fold in the back. What a bummer when you think that you’re ready to bind it and you have to rip instead.
Oh dear. That is so frustrating, but you will be happy when the ripping is finished and the quilt is perfect.
Hi Jan,
Oh shoot! Don’t you just hate that?! Such cute backing fabric especially with that heart. I know your granddaughters will just love them.

Happy picking! It can be the worst – I have to do it often and I haven’t gotten any better at it.
I really like the heart block you are putting into the backing. Such sweet prints. Do you find that you prefer pieced backings with additional interest?
Ouch, that hurts. Love the spring colors and the personalized patterns. I am sure the girls will love them.
