What a whirlwind April has been for getting my Granddaughters’ birthday quilts finished.
Let’s start at the beginning, I set my April goal to take my two tops to completed quilts. I had some backing challenges and quilting challenges to overcome (rather than beat myself up over this created opportunities, you can read the details here. Then we decided to put our house up for sale and see what happens. After one week and four showings, we had a contract. Wait now I have other goals to add in for April, but let’s get back to this goal.
It took several evenings to rip out the crease in the quilting.
Once that was done I needed to quilt the last part. Of course, my walking foot started to act up and it made the process so much longer to get completed. Then I added the binding. Can you believe how nice that seam is on the binding? I can’t, it was purely by accident.
Last night I finished up the binding and into the wash they went. Today I was lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny day and a handy quilt holder, to get a few shots.
Both quilts were done with Me & My Sisters Design BrightenUp and Frolic for the hearts on the back.
Sydney’s favorite color is yellow and Nina’s is pink. The backings are their choice of color.
I think they turned out pretty cute. Now it is time to get packing.

Wow, congratulations on selling your home so quickly; I hope your move and transition go smoothly. Congratulations on these two finishes and I hope the girls love them for years and years.
Wow ! What a great Grandma you are! Such happy bright quilts. I am sure they will treasure them.
That binding seam is darn near perfect! Both quilts turned out great. I’m sure they will be well loved. It’s like a forever hug from grandma.
Adorable!! I love the pieced backings with the hearts, it is like 2 quilts in one. They’re going to love it!
That binding seam couldn’t be any more perfect if you tried! Beautiful job precisely centering the hearts in the backing. I know they will fell you love, especially, when they are wrapped up in them. Congrats on completion!
The quilts are just wonderful. Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and congrats on your finish.
The quilts are so fun and cute! I love that yummy yellow backing, and who doesn’t love hearts on a girl’s quilt?! Excited to see where this move takes you (meaning, where you find your next permanent place — I know where you’re going for now)!
Those quilts are beautiful! And worth all the struggle it took to make them. You should be so proud! Thanks for linking up to Wednesday Wait Loss.
Jan, great job finishing both quilts AND selling your house! I love the fronts and the backs. And yes, I’ve had to deal with pleats on the backing, too. Fortunately the memory goes away! Or at least fades.
Wonderfull quilts 🙂
Hi Jan,
Great job on getting these two quilts finished! Your granddaughters will love them. Great job on quilting them – and matching the binding stripes! Wowee! It never goes together that nicely for me.
